Their implementation for read only clients has some nice use cases, but so far I had no need for them. I have never used this and I have no need for it, but I can see that this is something people want, especially less tech savvy ones. There are also features like sharing files to someone outside of your resilio network and stuff. This is the feature I want to see syncthing implement the most (plus improving that awful mobile client in the first place).

I could just download the book I wanted to listen to on demand with the resilio client and drop the stuff I do not need anymore. I used it to offer audiobooks to my phone for example. Partial sync is the last main benefit I see in Resilio. It is for sure a limited use case where this makes sense, but I still appreciated and used it. I also liked having the ability to build a sync network with encrypted seeders. Especially with big sync folders and clients that have not been updated in quite a while, syncthing will take a long time to be in sync. Atleast with the stuff that I sync and my setups, I must say, that resilio was much faster in getting everything back to sync. I have switched from resilio to syncthing like a year ago. I get that it is not open source and yes, that is a negative, but that does not explain peoples stance on the software. I also have read so much negativity about resilio, without actual justification and reasons behind it. What Is SelfHosted, As it pertains to this subreddit?
